Four Outfits for Family Photos This Spring
Springtime is here and it’s time to start planning those annual family photos. With the sun shining and flowers blooming, it’s the perfect setting for a photoshoot. To help you out, we’ve gathered up our favorite color palettes and sourced the best outfits to bring them to life.
You’ll find plenty of spring vibes: earthy tones, classic blue, sunshine yellow and seasonal green. These outfits can easily be worn in warmer weather, or layered for those cooler spring days. And whether you prefer to dress up or down, these outfits are timeless.
Check out our inspiration below, along with links to shop our favorite spring clothes. And to help make the planning easier, check out our tips on how to best prep for your photoshoot so you can enjoy the day and avoid the chaos.
Try these earthy tones together for the perfect neutral look. We love pairing the Chubby Lamb footed onesie in Wheat with their ribbed knit toddler dress in Oat. Not only are these organic kids clothes, but their colors also come in different styles - overalls, matching sets and rompers - so you can mix and match however best fits your family. For the adults, you can easily find a neutral dress or slacks to match - you may even already have this in your closet. The off-white, tan and brown tones work great against a green background (think: a local park or backyard) or even an indoor photoshoot at home.
Blues are a classic go-to any time of the year. We especially love tapping into blues if we are doing a shoot around water. Mix some lighter shades with darker hues if you’re doing a shoot at the beach or lake house. This even looks great at your local park with a small pond or spring in the backdrop.
We love bringing in a little print with Malabar Baby’s buttoned down shirt for boys, which pairs perfectly with these navy Bermuda shorts by Vild House of Little. We’ve paired this with a navy woven shirt and cotton leggings for girls. You can play around with the different tones of blue, but we always recommend having a mix of different ones together so that it doesn’t feel too monochromatic with all navy or all light-blue.
The sun is shining and so can your family. We love seeing all of the flowers blooming for spring and like to match that energy ourselves. Tap into these light shades of yellow to help your family pop against all the flowers at the park. It’s also a great color to pair with brick or stone buildings - like in front of a museum or local shopping center (though we recommend shooting in a way that any store signs don’t pop up in the background).
It’s hard to pass on a good coordinated outfit, and these matching prints by Malabar Baby are beautiful. Not only are they a striking yellow, but the pop of blue helps add another color to the picture. We can’t get enough of the Malabar Leaf toddler dress, especially when paired with the matching boys printed shirt and Vild House of Little’s shorts.
Why not play off all the green that’s popping up for spring? These Tiny Knot Co baby and toddler pajamas in Sage are such a cozy option for your little ones, no matter their age. They will be comfy and happy throughout the whole shoot. Try pairing these eco-friendly baby clothes with a printed option for you or your significant other forf a dynamic look.
In terms of location, we recommend against a park or leafy background so your family doesn’t get lost in the shuffle! Try this look indoors or outside, playing in the sand at the beach.
