Behind The Name
Hello
The word hello has quickly become one of my favorite words in our language. At its core, it’s an opportunity for connection with anyone and a symbol of mutual respect. My son Bennett’s first word was “hello.” Not hi, but hello. For months and months, it was his only word. In his sweet little voice, he walked around saying hello on repeat to anyone he passed. It brought so much joy and light to everyone he encountered and was always a reminder of the power of a simple hello.

The bluebird is a symbol of joy and hope. While the world has often felt heavy lately, our children are the biggest source of joy and bring us hope for a better future.
Why is it spelled with a Y instead of an I? Hello Bluebyrd will tell the stories of mission-driven brands so customers can buy from brands they trust and align with. We share the brand’s “why”: why they started the brand, why they do things differently, why they make their products the way they do, why we love them, and why people should buy from them.
Meet the Founder
I’m Katie — founder, mom of 3, and dreamer of building a better world for all of our kids. After volunteering packing meals for children in need with my two daughters, our eyes were opened to just how severe our global food crisis is. More than 333 million people are facing food insecurity and don’t know where their next meal is coming from. I was devastated to learn that 66 million primary age school children attend school hungry every day. And 45% of deaths in children under five are caused by poor nutrition, amounting to 3.1 million children each year. Yet, the United Nations World Food Programme considers hunger “one of the most solvable problems that face the world today.”
Our Story
As I was attempting to organize and purge my kids’ overfilled playroom and closets one day, something clicked. Parents and caregivers have incredible purchase power as we are constantly shopping for our ever-changing and growing children. How could I leverage the frequent purchases I was already making for my kids to help other children in need? It was then that Hello Bluebyrd was born to give parents and caregivers a convenient way to leverage their purchase power for good.
We are more than just a marketplace. We are a community of purpose-driven brands, parents and creators coming together to build a better world for our kids. I’m so grateful you’re here.
